Monty Williams calls out silly altercation between Durant and Jokic

Suns coach Monty Williams was furious with the recent development between Nikola Jokic and Kevin Durant. The duo had a massive confrontation during the NBA playoff fixture between Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets. Williams quickly called it out and asked for the NBA to create a rule to disallow players from infiltrating an opposing team’s huddle after the confrontation on Tuesday night.

With just less than a minute left in the third quarter of Game 5, Devin Booker was shooting free throws and his teammates formed a  huddle by their bench when Nuggets guard Bruce Brown and Jokić tried to infiltrate the meeting. There was a little shove from Durant towards Brown and then pushed away Jokic, causing the two-time MVP to stumble backwards. Durant and Brown were assessed technical fouls for the altercation, but Williams still wanted something more concrete to be done.

“The league has to figure out all that stuff,” Williams said after Phoenix’s 118–102 loss, referring to players inserting themselves into an opposing team’s huddle. “There’s just too much silliness going on in the NBA when it comes to that. Everybody does it. There should be a written rule that you shouldn’t walk over to somebody’s huddle, but everybody in the league does that, it’s kind of silly.”

According to Nextbet, Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns were pretty underwhelming in Game 5 against the Nuggets. With a potentially grim situation looming for the Suns, NBA fans didn’t hesitate before going at Durant. After a masterclass by Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets broke the deadlock to take a 3-2 lead in the series. Only one game away from elimination now, the Suns really do have their backs to the wall.

While the situation is quite daunting, Phoenix and their superstar Kevin Durant haven’t been safe from criticism. Given the manner in which the Suns lost this game, NBA fans were quick to destroy Durant for losing even with one of the best teams in the league.

The Phoenix Suns practically shook the landscape of the league when they paired Kevin Durant with Devin Booker. With two of the most potent offensive players in the league, the Suns boasted unrealistic firepower. Unfortunately, this has also been their greatest flaw in the playoffs and this ploy from the Suns worked out wonders.
